Life Lately

Two blog posts in one week?! Am I back??! I'm cautiously optimistic. As I type this, it's 9:30am on Monday and both girls are still sleeping. I repeat, both girls are still sleeping! #whatishappening

So here's a little look at our life lately . . .

This was my Mother's Day breakfast. Unbeknownst the them, the girls gave me the best gift ever by both sleeping in for the first time. Matty made me a delicious breakfast that I was able to eat sitting down, using both arms, while it was still hot!

The weather was looking fantastic last Wednesday, so Matty took the day off to spend time with Lu and put together our new trampoline. Oh, and eat donuts! We started our day off with these beauties . . .

 . . . and we weren't sad about it!

While Matty put together the trampoline, Lucy washed the lawnmower I bought from a mom to mom site.

She took a break to eat an apple like a big girl at her new picnic table.

The inaugural jump!

A rare smile from this little cutie!!

This is Lucy's new favorite way to lay and watch Daniel Tiger. She looks like such a big girl!

Keeping daddy company in the bathroom. Complete with rain boots, because you just never know.

Aunt Carla and Emmy Roses!

Lucy made herself right at home during her 2 year check up. She introduced Nemo to her doctor and talked up a storm. She's a thriving little girl!

We did not turn on our AC during those few very hot days last week. Emmy's room was pretty warm, and we can't open the window because it's low to the ground in the front of the house. I picked her up at one point and she was super sweaty, so we had a sleepover out in the living room instead. She slept great on her tummy, and I slept next to her on the couch.

She chose her own outfit, and we couldn't have loved it more. Pink striped leggings, purple long sleeved shirt, orange Adidas skirt, a tank dress with fruit on it, and neon yellow socks with flowers. #fashionista

We borrowed this swing from my friend Lisa, and Emily enjoys it. Thank goodness! This thing has six speeds, and she gets cruising around #5. Apparently she enjoys a vigorous rocking experience!

Lucy got Mega Blocks for her birthday, and she's been playing with them nonstop.

Her little face in the mirror is so cute. Matty did not capture what happened next, which is when Lu freaked out and started crying because she couldn't get out.

Sunday morning I got to have breakfast with these lovely ladies. We celebrated the upcoming arrival of Nicole's baby boy, ate some yummy breakfast, and had great conversations.

We have learned from our mistakes and planted a bare bones garden this year: cherry tomatoes, regular tomatoes, and basil. We finally added the housewarming gift that my aunt and uncle got us years ago. It looks great!

This was Matty's view from the dining room the other night. Emmy needed to eat, but Lu was having a meltdown because she wanted me in the bathroom with her during tub time. So there I am sitting on the bathroom floor feeding my baby.

The Bachelorette started this past Monday!!! Finally, a reason to live again! Just kidding ;) sort of.  Also, how have I only JUST discovered the Bachelorette Fantasy League online?? I'm so on board! Alllll those years during football season when we've had to stop what we're doing because Matty would say, "Wait, I have to make my picks."  It's my turn now!

I usually wear Emmy when I take Lucy to the park during the day. The sunshade on my new carrier works great!

I call this move the "Feed and Read." I think it's going to be a classic in our house!

I made my first solo trip to the store with both girls earlier this week. All three of us did great! The only problem was that I was seriously low on space for my purchases. I think next time I'll have to wear Emmy.

Lu and her entourage.

This was how she travelled the following day.

This little lady is chubbing up like nobody's business. This is a 3 month outfit, but she also fits quite nicely into 6 month clothing. She'll be 2 months on the 31st. #healthyeater #justlikemama

And that's all for now. Remember earlier in the post when I said I started on Monday morning? Well, it's now Thursday morning and this is the first chance I've had to finish up the post. . . while Lu watches a Daniel Tiger and eats pancakes.  And I haven't finished The Bachelorette yet either. Perhaps I'm not as "back" as I thought I was.

Today will be spent packing and tonight we head to the cottage for Memorial Day. Our first trip as a family of four. We are looking forward to a change of scenery and seeing Sarah, Brian, and Tommy! Five adults, two toddlers, one infant, and two dogs. Mama's gonna need a chill pill. And a drink. And a nap!

Have a great long weekend! Hopefully I'll get the Memorial Day pics posted before the 4th of July!

Same Blog, Different Name!

Welcome to the new blog . . . where the only difference you'll find is the name!

I honestly wasn't sure what to do with the name so that both girls would be incorporated. Eventually, I decided to do something using their middle names. This was very fitting because Lucy tells everyone that Em's name is "Emily Roses." Yes, that's right, more than one rose! So now we have a Lucy Belle and an Emily Roses. It's going to stick for the rest of her life, I just know it.  So I decided to run with that and . . . bam! New blog name. Sorry about the boring explanation and the twenty seconds of your life you can't have back.

Here's a few quick pics of the stars of the blog show.

We are hanging in there. I have so many cute pics I'd like to share, and so little time without a crying baby in my arms to share them. Someday soon, I hope.

Lucy's Birthday Extravaganza!

Lucy turned two on Monday, and we had been talking about her party for quite some time. We decided a few months ago that we would do a Minnie Mouse party. I tried to plan as much as I could before Emily arrived and then did a few last minute touches as the partied approached. Overall, I was very happy with how everything turned out!

This was her invitation. Minnie Mouse and cupcakes . . . it doesn't get better than that!

This was her second Minnie Mouse shirt on the morning of the party. The first one got covered in bubbles. #daddysfault #mamaboughtabackup

I made the banner myself and am pretty proud of it. I may have hung it several days early so we could enjoy it for awhile! You may be wondering how I had time to do the banner when we have such a colicky baby . . . I utilized my pumping sessions. Picture me sitting at our counter at 2am pumping milk and cutting out Minnie Mouse bows. I really am the coolest, don't be jealous ;)

This is Lucy's new "surprised" face.

Because Mother's Day was the next day, we decided to combine the celebrations. I love our new sideboard for decorating purposes! I decorated this area for Mother's Day. The vase and flowers on the right were my gift from Lucy. Girl can pick out some nice flowers!

This is the only picture I got of the balloons. We originally had them on the patio, but they kept getting blown over so we had to move them inside. Party tip: buy your balloons from Amazon and then take them to a store to be inflated (we used Kroger). The cost of a dozen balloons plus the inflation charge of Kroger was less than the cost of one giant Minnie balloon from Party City!

I decided not to make a Minnie Mouse cake for two reasons: 1. I wasn't crazy about the idea of making/eating black frosting and 2. Have I mentioned my super fussy new baby? So I took Lucy to the Cupcake Station to pick out a birthday cupcake. Because it was also a Mother's Day celebration,  I made Sanders Hot Fudge Cream Puffs because both of our moms love those.

Last year my friend Erica did our chalkboard with a Lucy Belle is 1 written on it with a giraffe and a cupcake. We left it up all year because it looked great. So I just erased the giraffe/cupcake/number one and drew the Minnie Mouse head. I also updated the pictures with some of my faves from the the past year.

The weather was perfect for an outdoor party. The Minnie Mouse tablecloth and these three Minnie Mouse things on the window were our only outdoor decorations.

Check out our new retractable awning! We may have aged ourselves 20 years by getting one, but I LOVE it. We have zero shade in our backyard so this is great to sit under with Emmy while Lucy plays in the yard.

Grandma Ri bought Lucy her own little picnic table.

The Heinbuchs arrived! Inside the bag that Steph is carrying was the cutest Minnie Mouse shopping cart!

Eating strawberries at her new picnic table.

Matty, Sadie, and Lucy played hard.

If you could have seen my mom's face when this was happening . . .

This is about as high as my mom will let Lucy go! ;)

Unfortunately, my brother, sister-in-law, and nephews weren't able to come. My nephew, Andy, had his first baseball game and my brother is the coach. My parents brought Sadie, though, and she loved playing ball with the dogs!

My parents bought LuLu a water table, and she loves it.

This little lady slept on our bed through the first half of the party. A night of crying will really tucker you out! You don't see me sleeping on the bed, though, Emmy!

When she did wake up, she just found other places to sleep!

Lucy wanted to eat her cupcake in her "little house." She wanted us to sing to her, but did not want the candle lit.

She didn't eat much of the cupcake at first, and then went back a little while later and painted her face with the frosting. Can you tell we were waaay past nap time??

Our family of four!

On her actual birthday, we had a breakfast picnic on the couch. When I asked her what she wanted for breakfast, Lucy quickly said apples, raisins, and dog bones (graham crackers in the shape of dog bones).

A little while later Oma showed up with birthday TimBits!

It was another beautiful day, so we spent most of it outside playing.

Emmy snuggled with Oma for about ten minutes before she started fussing and they went inside.

And then the day after Lucy's birthday we got together with my SIL and Gordie since they couldn't make the party. These two sure are silly!

I stumbled across these sandals for Lucy weeks ago. Who knew Crocs could be so cute?! They were a little bit more than what I thought someone should spend on Crocs, so I didn't buy them. However, Carla knew how much Lucy (and I!!!) would like them so she bought them for Lu's birthday.

And that's it! We now have a two-year-old living in our house. It's hard to believe it's been two years already! Time sure does fly when you're having fun!
