Life Lately

Life lately has been a little crazy. Lucy has decided to throw her naps to the wind again, which does not make the days easy for this super pregnant mama!

Monday came and we had zero plans, so I decided to stay home all day and get some things done. Lucy woke up and was ready to take her baby for a walk right away.

I figured it was time to bring up my pumping supplies and bottles for Emily. It was like Christmas morning for Lucy. She was "super helpful" with unpacking the bottles and lids . . .

 . . . see!

Halfway through the bottle project, Lu sprang up and went to grab my container of oats and said she was ready to bake. So I set her up with some baking supplies, which lasted about five glorious minutes until she started brushing everything on to the floor!

Later in the day she started saying that she wanted to give her baby a bath, so Matty brought up our baby tub from the basement. Baby Fishy got a super quick bath . . .

. . . and then Lucy hopped in!

And for reference, here's a cute pic of her in the bath when she was about 7 months old!

We went for a walk in the park Monday after dinner, and Lucy had a great time splashing in all the puddles.

She loves to look for ducks in the creek.

Due to her lack of naps, Lu has been sleeping in later in the morning. Tuesday I had to go in and wake her up so we wouldn't be late for our Kindermusik class. Doesn't she look so comfy?!

When she finally did decide to get up and start her day, I thought her hair looked so cute!

She chose not to nap again on Tuesday, so I put her to work washing bottles with Oma.

This rocking chair used to be mine when I was little. It also used to be pink and covered in Cabbage Patch stickers. My parents gave it a make over, and it's just perfect for Lucy to rock her baby in!

My sweet friend Becky had us over for lunch yesterday, and Lucy was obsessed with Baby Maxine! Hopefully, that turns out to be a good thing when we bring Emily home.

Lucy even wanted to sit in Maxine's high chair to eat her lunch.

Matty got a little "push present" yesterday. Even though he won't be doing any pushing (and, technically, neither will I!), he's put up with a fairly cranky pregnant mama for the past nine months and this grill was his reward.

Looking good grilling us up some chicken and asparagus for dinner last night.

This is not the clearest picture, but we took a selfie on our last night as a family of three while we were playing outside after dinner.

You guys, we are having a BABY tomorrow!! Last night my mother-in-law said it seems like just days ago that we were hoping to get pregnant again, which is funny because a few nights ago Matty and I both agreed it seems like I've been pregnant FOREVER!

This morning I'm taking Lucy to open gymnastics and then HOPEFULLY she'll finally take a nap. My parents are going to come out and pick her up after nap and take her back to their house. We have to be at the hospital at 6:15 on Friday morning, so we figured it'd be best not to have to disturb Lucy that early. I'm going to miss my girl so much while I'm in the hospital. It's so weird to think that she's not going to be my only baby anymore!

I'll try to hop on here quickly at some point over the weekend to post a picture or two. Other than than, I may take a blogging break for a few weeks to get acclimated to our new normal. Also, I need to figure out what the heck to call my little slice of the internet since it's not life with just Lucy anymore!

If you haven't signed up for email notifications whenever I do a new post, be sure to check back every now and then over the next few weeks to see when I'm back up and running.

Have a great weekend . . . I know we will!!!

Emily's Nursery

Here's a little sneak peek at the nursery for our newest little lady!

When we found out I was pregnant with Lucy, Matty and I painted both of the extra bedrooms a very light gray and decided we would use accent colors to spruce it up, rather than painting the walls purple or pink. The fact that Emily's room was already painted and ready to go made decorating it fairly easy.

Lucy's room has purple as an accent color, so I decided to go with pink for Emily. I was kind of floundering a bit over what I wanted to do, but then I found the picture hanging above her changing table at Home Goods and knew that it was my inspiration!

This is the view from her doorway. Unfortunately, Emily's room is at the front of the house and has that large window. The pink curtains are actually blackout curtains and do a fairly good job of keeping it dark for daytime naps. Another unfortunate aspect of her room is that I feel like we will never be able to have the windows open while she's sleeping. I'm sure I'll learn to deal with it, though!

To the left of the doorway is her crib, closet, and changing table. The mirrored doors give you a look at the other side of the room.

We decided to go with the same crib that we have for Lucy. Thank you to my mom and dad for purchasing the crib and mattress! I made Emily's name by stapling fabric to canvases, painted the wooden letters, and then glued them on. A special thanks to Matty for doing most of the stapling and hanging them so perfectly!

The pictures really don't do them justice. I'm super proud of them and like them more than the frames I did for Lucy's name!

I love this cloud crib sheet! Emily has an elephant lovie waiting for her courtesy of Oma and Pop, and the dolly on the right is supposed to be a gift from Lucy to Emily . . . but Lucy plays with it all the time so maybe they'll have to share. #sisters

The mobile was a freeby from my friend Becky, and it matches perfectly!

There's a pink dust ruffle on the crib, but the mattress is at its highest point right now so it doesn't really show underneath.

There's the picture I was talking about! Also, I'd like to state for the record that, ideally, the picture would have been hung slightly lower. However, there is a cable hook up and some other kind of outlet on the wall and the goal was to cover them up. If the picture was any lower, they would have been peeking out from the top of it. The dresser is from Ikea, and I added some pink sparkly knobs for a little bit of pizzazz! #girlmom

I love this part of the room! Thanks to Grandma Ri for the new rocker that is waaaay more comfy than the one in Lucy's room. Bring on the sleep regressions, I could sit in that thing all day. Just kidding! About the regressions, not the rocker. That bit of space underneath the shelves is really the only empty space in the room. At first I thought we'd put a bookshelf there, but then I thought about all the floor toys and the play mat that Emily will need and decided to leave a small bit of room for growth.

Above the rocker is a cute collage frame for Emily's monthly photos.

I found these cute shelves on Amazon and love them! They hold a few things to have on display (baby book, some special new books just for Emily, and a frame for her birth announcement). The rest of her toys and books will most likely be stored in an organizer we have in the closet for now.

So there you have it! Overall, I'm really happy with how it turned out. Did I go gonzo with the pink? Yes. Does it make me smile every time I walk in? Definitely!

Again, a big huge THANK YOU to Matty for spending his nights and weekends plowing through the long list of things that needed to be accomplished to get Emily's room ready.

We are all set and ready to go . . . now we just need the baby! If she's keeping to her scheduled timeline, only three more days to go!!

Weekend Recap: Brownies and Babydolls

Well, we've wrapped up our final weekend as a family of three. It's getting weirder and weirder to think about! Lucy really gave us a run for our money on Sunday. She didn't nap and then alternated between playing nicely and doing everything possible to get in trouble. So when I finally got the chance to sit down and relax for a bit after she went to bed, this little quote I saw on Facebook made me feel a bit better.

Thursday is our day for open gymnastics, and Oma, Carla, and Gordie came with us this week!

Her little toes were a few inches off the ground, and she was holding on!

Nailed the landing!

Friday was a beautiful day so we met up with Greta and her mom for a park playdate.

Dressing them in the same colors was a total coincidence!

Greta gives the sweetest little hugs and kisses, and sometimes Lucy just isn't feeling it.

After an outfit change, Lucy caught up on her baby news while trying to use the potty before nap.

After nap we were back outside for the entire afternoon and evening.

All the fresh air and activity was too much for Sydney on Friday night!

It was also super tiring for Lucy. She was in bed asleep by 8:00 Friday night and slept until 9:30 Saturday morning! She woke up super happy and ready for a fun day with mama and daddy.

We tried out the Northville library and, honestly, weren't very impressed with it. We stayed for just a little bit and then headed out to lunch. It was a rainy day, so Lucy wore her new bunny rain boots. Aren't they the cutest?!

We went to a diner called Rebecca's of Northville. We hadn't been before, but it had gotten lots of recommendations on Facebook as a great place to take kiddos. It did not disappoint. They have a train that travels around the top of the entire restaurant, and Lucy could have watched it all day!

We got her a PB&J with some curly fries as an added treat. The fries came with Ranch, and Lucy devoured them . . . and then continued to dip her sandwich in Ranch and eat it. Totally grossed us out, but she was eating happily so we went with it.

And for a special treat, we ordered a Sanders Hot Fudge Brownie Sundae for dessert. Oh. My. Goodness. At first Lucy almost seemed afraid of it! haha

It was soooo delicious. Matty said he felt guilty after eating it. As a 38 weeks pregnant mama, that feeling wasn't even close to being on my radar!

Lucy had some important phone calls to make on the way home.

Lucy made sure that Sydney was well fed on Sunday morning!

We took her to toddler time at Sky Zone on Sunday, but she wasn't super into it this time. She was more interested in walking around, sitting at the video games, and eating a snack!

I put Lucy down for a nap and then left to run an errand and go to the grocery. I got this picture from Matty a little bit later. Turns out napping didn't go so well.

We got Lucy a Bitty Baby and a new doll stroller as a Big Sister gift. We decided to give it to her this weekend so that we could have a few days to enjoy it with her before all the craziness started.

She immediately fed the baby . . .

. . . and then snuggled her up!

Matty brought in the stroller, and Lucy couldn't wait to plop that baby down and take her for a ride!

She put the extra diaper, bottles, and outfit in the bottom basket and was on her way.

Holding her baby while watching Minnie and drinking some milk. I've asked Lucy three or four times what she wants to name her baby, and every single time she's said, "Fishy!" I'll give it another day or two and see if it sticks!

And now Lucy is sleeping peacefully, and we are hunkered down in bed. One of us is blogging, and one of us is re-watching season two of Fargo. Both of us are soaking up what little bit of nightly relaxation time we have left. Our days are numbered. This is happening on Friday, ready or not. I think we are ready though!

We have a pretty standard week ahead of us . . . other than the whole having a baby thing! ;)

Have a great week!
