Weekend Recap

Before I get into our weekend recap, I want to mention a few changes to the blog. I am going to delete the tab at the top that says "Recipes." Originally, I had wanted to have a page for recipes and a page for books. This way I could post recommendations of good meals I've made or books I'ver read. However, I'm still new to the blogging world, and it's proving to be more difficult than I thought to link up separate pages to the home page. So from now on, there will be a few more posts each week but some of them may be recipes or books rather than pictures of sweet Lucy Belle.

Ok, on to the weekend. It was pretty standard, nothing too exciting except . . . wait for it . . .

I usually like to post our pictures in chronological order, and this happened on Sunday afternoon, but I'm just so excited! The mopping of the floors gets top billing! And you know who mopped them?! . . .

. . . this guy!! BEST HUSBAND EVER!

Ok, rewind to Friday now. Lucy enjoyed a delicious lunch of squash and blueberries.

Some Friday evening couch time.

On Saturday we had our friends Ryan and Stephanie over for dinner. Matty helped by chopping up all the veggies (the recipe will be posted later this week).

I fed myself lunch while Matty fed Lucy lunch. I had gotten warm while doing some cleaning so I took off my sweater. And Matt's sunglasses were on the counter so I put them on. Looks like I'm enjoying a nice summer lunch!

We went for a long walk to enjoy the mild weather and sunshine.

Matty and Lucy had a nice little photo shoot while we waited for Ryan and Stephanie to arrive.

When Ryan and Stephanie arrived, they went right in for the kill and wanted to hold Lucy. Ryan took her, and Lucy was NOT having it! The cries turned to screams fairly quickly. We thought Lucy might do better if she had the home field advantage so we headed to the nursery to play her new favorite game, "Don't Take My Scarf." She laughs and giggles like crazy for this game. So Matt and I put the scarves on our heads first to demonstrate, and Lucy loved it. So Stephanie went next . . .

and Lucy laughed and played right along!

And then Ryan took a turn. Lucy looked at him, and just when I thought she was going to laugh and grab the scarf . . .

 . . . she lost her cool!

"Scarf or no scarf, someone get this guy out of my room!!" (Don't worry, Mom, I snapped the pictures and then cuddled her up.)

Lucy had a special visitor at her door on Sunday evening.

And finally, while I was getting Lucy's bath stuff ready she and Matty had an epic selfie session.

My new favorite picture of Lucy!!

That's all folks!
Hope you had a great weekend!

Life Lately

As I was selecting the pictures for my post today I was thinking that I might be posting too many pictures of Lucy. Then I thought . . . NOPE! That's the purpose of the blog! She's been abnormally fussy this week, but she's also had her super cute moments. We've been hanging out at home a lot . . . do stay at home moms in Arizona have it easier than stay at home moms in Michigan? This weather is going to be the end of me!

Remember when I said my motto for the new year would be "Less shopping, more mopping?" Well I've definitely been going to the mall less, which is contributing to my stir-craziness. But there hasn't been any mopping. And it's on my mind every. single. day! My amazing husband bought me a janitor-like mop bucket and mop when we moved into this house. It's nice, it's just that we store it in the basement and it seems like a lot of work to lug it upstairs, fill it up in the bathtub, move all the chairs and rugs, vacuum, and then mop. All while either entertaining a baby or while she is sleeping, which just seems like a bad idea.  My birthday is next Friday. In lieu of a gift, if someone showed up at my house and said they would vacuum and mop my floors, it'd be the best gift ever. Or maybe just entertain that sweet baby so I could do it. Because seeing someone else mop my floors might just drive me bananas!

Anyhoo . . . on to the pictures! I'm starting off with a picture of the little lady that used to be the center of my world until Lucy arrived. Sydney is sound asleep in this picture. Apparently all cute little girls in this house like to stick out their tongues!

Lu in a Box!

Grandma Rita bought Lucy a new outfit, and I think she likes it!

Sweet baby girl loved this giant teddy bear. She's still trying to convince her Daddy that she needs it for Valentine's Day.

How I make dinner.

Lucy had some fun play time at Oma and Papa's on Tuesday. She even wore the new outfit they bought her!

This is my new favorite picture. I love this sweet baby!

Multitasking . . . she gets it from her mama!

"Uh, Papa, there's something on your face. . . and if you don't move soon I'm going to lick it!"

I ordered a sun hat to put in Lucy's Easter basket. I figured I'd try it on her to see if it fits (she won't remember). She wasn't too thrilled with it. She was probably upset that her pants no longer match her shirt, but that's what happens when you dump water on yourself at lunch.

I put Lucy in a laundry basket with a bowl of dry noodles. If this doesn't earn me the "Mother of the Year" award, I don't know what will! ;) At first Sydney removed the noodles from the bowl one by one, and before long Lucy caught on and started holding them up for her. #buddies

Please note: Lucy's mouth is not full of dry noodles in this picture . . . her cheeks are just THAT big!

On Wednesday morning Lucy demonstrated how to chew handles and wear scarves at her Furry Friends Animal Summit.

Someone had a refreshing nap!!

I took Lucy to play at her friend Ella's house, and she had her first teething biscuit. Try not to be distracted by her adorably fat wrists!

On Thursday night three amazing things happened:

1. I went to dinner with a friend . . . without Lucy!
2. Matty watched Lucy all on his own for the 90 minutes I was gone.
3. He changed a POOPY diaper!

Watch your heads, everyone, there are pigs flying about! ;)

Here's a picture that Matty texted me while I was at dinner. I believe Lucy is offering Matty her favorite book as an apology for making a poopy diaper.

I had dinner with my friend Lianne, and she brought Lucy two adorable outfits. Lucy loved them and insisted on sending Lianne a picture to thank her.

The giraffe outfit is her favorite!

So that's life lately. Hope everyone is having a great week. I have a little craft idea up my sleeve for Lucy that I hope to post about this weekend.

Weekend Recap - Teething Edition

Poor Lucy Belle. She has been getting teeth nonstop. She is currently working on her third top tooth, which means our weekend was chock full of drooling and fussiness. I did manage to capture a few of her happier moments, though. And, knock on wood, this round of teething hasn't seemed to affect her sleeping at night. However, she did decide to skip her afternoon nap today and did surprisingly well considering her lack of sleep.

Friday during the day I decided to snap a mirror selfie to send to Matty. I have Valentine's Day stickers on Lucy's mirror, and I really couldn't have recreated this picture if I tried. It looks as though I intentionally tried to block out her face. Oops!

A crazy Friday evening of books and puppets.

Looking adorable with her bow and her babydoll lovie!

On Saturday afternoon Matty had a much deserved "man day" with a few of his friends. I stayed at home with a fussy Lu. I was tired and didn't feel like going through all the work of getting ready to take her anywhere, so we had a good couple hours of play time.

Lucy felt that her money was much safer in her mouth than in the piggy bank.

Desperate times call for desperate measures, so we recreated one of our favorite activities from our Cuddle and Bounce class . . . traveling around in a laundry basket! Lucy wasn't really feeling it, but Sydney enjoyed trotting around with us . . . and even stole the stuffed teddy bear at one point. #whenwilldaddybehome

After our ride around the house, we parked and pet the animals for a few minutes.

Then things took a turn for the worse, so I figured it was time for some lunch.

But apparently my mama radar was off, and it was actually time for a nap! :) This is what happened when I turned away for a minute to rinse out some dishes.

Grandma Rita came over on Sunday to get some Lucy time before she goes to spend a week with Cousin Tommy.

Lucy showed us how much she loves her spinach and carrots.

And because we really know how to party it up here at the Kissel house, we finished off the weekend by reorganizing the freezer and rotating the breastmilk. Party animals, we are not!

I am an avid Good Morning America watcher. I love Robin, George, Lara, Michael, and Ginger. That being said, our ABC signal went out for a bit last week so I switched to the Today Show . . . and ended up getting a good little tip. They were doing a story about ways for busy moms to fit in exercise and suggested that rather than dumping the laundry out on the bed to fold (which I usually do), you keep it in the basket and do a squat every time you reach down for something to fold. You know how once you know something you can't un-know it? Well I did four loads of laundry today, and every time I went to fold it I thought about that news story and knew I would feel guilty if I didn't squat while I folded . . . so I did! It may have added a little more time to my laundry folding, but I felt good about staying active. Lucy's laundry really had me feeling the burn. I did a quick count when I was finished, and there were at least 55 things I had folded! (I decided to really make the exercise count, so I'd squat down to get one sock . . . then squat down to get it's match!)

That was our weekend! This week I will be adding "recipe" and "book" pages to my blog. Feel free to stop by and check out my suggestions.

Have a great week!
