Life Lately

Hope everyone's been having a good week. Lucy has her first cold, which is no fun at all. She's basically been sleeping through the night since she was two months old, so I've forgotten what it's like to not get a somewhat good night's sleep. It all came back nice and clear the other night when I was rocking that sweet baby at 1:00am . .  and 3:00am . . . and 4:30am. But I'm a mama now, and that's what mamas do, right?

I basically just took all the random pics from my phone that I haven't shared yet and pasted them into this post. I don't even know if they are in chronological order. Apparently a lack of sleep makes me a little more easy-going about my blog posts!

I took the top picture of Snort last year when I was pregnant and staying at home. Matty had left his socks out on the floor, and it just seemed like putting them on the dog was the right thing to do. I texted it to Matt, and I believe his response included something about how happy he was that he worked hard all day and I was at home taking pictures of our dog in lumberjack socks. haha  So the other day I found Matt's blue lumberjack socks on the floor and recreated last year's picture and sent it to him while he was slaving away at work. Maybe the moral of this story is that someone shouldn't leave his socks on the floor anymore!

 Lucy playing Peek-a-Boo with Grandma!

Here's my Baby's First Christmas ornament from 1982 next to the ornament we got for Lucy this year. Ornaments have come a long way! I love her ornament, and I'm sure 18 years from now she'll be hanging one that says "Lucy's 18th Christmas." I'm that kind of mom!

Last year and this year . . . my what a difference a year makes!

Dad bought me this in Frankenmuth several years ago, and it makes me giggle every time I hang it up.

I discovered the Disney Soundtracks playlist on Spotify and put it on when Lucy and I are playing. It takes me right back to my childhood, and I can't wait for Lucy to watch The Little Mermaid . . . Beauty and the Beast . . .Aladdin . . .The Lion King. . . she has a lot of catching up to do!

When Lucy was born,  my friend Amber gave me a TON of ADORABLE clothing from her daughter Kate. I have a bin of the cutest spring and summer 12 month outfits all washed and ready to go, which I assumed would be fine since Lucy was born in May. Well, it's December and that sweet, chubby baby is already in 12 month clothing. That means that all the cute clothes I washed from Amber will go back unused, which makes me sad. However, it also means that we get to shop the sales and buy new clothes, which makes me happy! Oh the emotional rollercoaster of styling a baby!

Watching the aquarium in her crib. Love the back of that head!

Came home from the eye doctor to find Lucy snuggling with Oma!
Sidenote: I stressed out about the eye doctor for like a week beforehand because I despise the glaucoma test - you know, the one where they blow the puff of air in your eye? I blink every time, and they always have to try several times, and I just freak out. Well this year they told me that they've updated to a new kind of test for glaucoma . . . no more puff of air! It was a piece of cake, and now I no longer have to dread my annual visit.

Check out these cute slippers that I found for Lucy! They stayed on for an entire afternoon, which was very surprising. Oh, and when I took this picture I believe Matt told me to crop him out so people didn't see his weird outfit. Oops!

We experienced another milestone this week . . . Lucy sat like a big girl in the grocery cart! She loved looking at things, and I loved being able to buy much more than usual.

My sister-and-law, Carla, and I were asked (for the second year in a row) to bake cookies for Hood Hardware's annual Yankee Candle sale extravaganza. I'm making 300 chocolate chip cookies, and Carla is making 150 decorated sugar cookies. I DEFINITELY got the better end of the deal. Here's most of the ingredients I'll need. If you are in the downriver area on Saturday and need a Christmas gift for that special someone, stop by Hood's in Wyandotte. The candles are all on sale, and the cookies are free!

Playing after naptime while still in her sleep sack. I thought she was so cute!

Lucy loves playing with her new friend, Ginger. I wish I had moved over a little so you couldn't see me making funny faces in the mirror!

I want Lucy to have a good sized collection of Christmas books. Unfortunately, since her current preferred method of exploring book is by eating them, I can't really utilize library books yet. I've purchased these three so far. I have to pace myself since I know she won't really even appreciate them for a few more years.

Well, I guess that's it for now. It's time to go prepare for tomorrow's baking extravaganza.

Oh, and it looks like 6 people have signed up to receive blog updates in their email . . . 5 of which are immediate family members! Feel free to subscribe and follow me. You'll get an email as soon as I make a new post, which means you won't have to sit at home and wonder all day long if I've posted anything new yet ;)
